"Adventures, I used to call them. I used to think that they were things the wonderful folk of the stories went out and looked for, because they wanted them, because they were exciting and life was a bit dull...But that's not the way of it with the tales that really mattered, or the ones that stay in the mind. Folk seem to have just landed in them, usually...I expect they had a lot of chances, like us, of turning back, only they didn't. And if they had, we shouldn't know, because they'd have been forgotten."

Post-op, day 5

Alina is doing very well. She's wire/tube/monitor free and completely off all pain meds but the ones to help settle her legs (because they are digging around in the nerves during surgery, post rhizotomy patients can have muscle spasms for a while). She's been on her prone cart, they've raised her bed up to partially sitting position, and she starts PT tomorrow!

Right after checking in

day before surgery (these are horribly out of order)

sleepy girl after surgery

post op day 2, got out of the room on a rolling bed!

right before surgery

post op day 3, real clothing!!

post op day 4, prone cart
