"Adventures, I used to call them. I used to think that they were things the wonderful folk of the stories went out and looked for, because they wanted them, because they were exciting and life was a bit dull...But that's not the way of it with the tales that really mattered, or the ones that stay in the mind. Folk seem to have just landed in them, usually...I expect they had a lot of chances, like us, of turning back, only they didn't. And if they had, we shouldn't know, because they'd have been forgotten."

Day 8?

I think? LOL Time is going fast and slow all at the same time.

We are awaiting our interpol clearance, but apparently the local paperwork was all done, it was on its way to the big office today. And we learned our judge took a sick leave? We have no idea how long. We are running out of childcare options at home, praying things move along here soon so Dad can get home to the boys.

I never did update after we met with the baby house director. We learned about Alina's past and why she was here. More about her medicals and who's seen her for what. It was very informative, much moreso than our first appointment with the SDA, alot of their info was wrong, the baby house info was correct and current.

We measured Alina, she is 36" tall and I'm guessing between 25 and 30lbs (my arms are SORE!). Her CP affects her lower legs, from the knee down, but she can bear her own weight, just needs help with balance while walking. The girl is determined and can climb like crazy, and she's very strong. I anticipate getting her home so she can get the therapy and bracing for her legs she needs. Also to see the eye doctor.

We are making good progress with her though. When we knock on her groupa's door, we can hear her crawling across the floor, very loudly hollering 'MAMA! MAMA!' Its adorable. She gets so excited. She loves to be outside too. Its hard to entertain her for our visits with such limited ability, and limited area's we can play. She's curious (or nosy!) and she's quite the diva! We've nicknamed her DIVAlina. :)

Tonight was hard, she didn't want to say goodbye. We walked back to her groupa and she clung to me, when I asked if she wanted to go in, she said no (nyet) and clung tighter. So we sat in the chair and I just held her, rubbing her back, talking to her. She held onto my shirt very tightly, and the nanny came out an talked to her, she kept telling her no, she didn't want to go back in. FInally it was dinnertime, she HAD to, and she cried. Big pouty lip and crocodile tears as she looked back at us. It was awful to have to leave her when what I really wanted to do was rush back to her, scoop her up and tell her it was all ok. We could hear her crying when we got outside, and I pray that she is ok tonight, that her little heart knows we are coming back.

So onto some pictures. She's really a character, when the camera comes out she turns into a cheeseball. Its hard to get a 'normal' pic of her, she scrunches up her face and says 'cheeese' in english (yeah, that was my bad the first day lol).

Check out this hat! And her jacket was like pleather.... she was so slippery! LOL!

Papa is the treats man. :)

<3

How dare I interrupt her eating time with pictures!

Just kidding, she's really a big cheeseball!

This was tonight, she was NOT happy to go back to her groupa.

Alina is one truly blessed little girl. Your family is equally blessed with her. What a gorgeous happy child with an infecious smile. I'm so happy for all of you. She's going to love you with as much of her heart as you love her with yours. God chose you to be her family and what a gift she is getting. You feel she's the gift but you are her gift as well. It only gets better for her from here on out. You and Eugene are remarkable to go thru all that you have for this little girl. Love has no boundaries. God Bless.

Has it become your mission to make me cry everyday?! :) She's beautiful! My heart breaks for all of you that she's crying when you leave. I'm sure it rips your heart out. That makes me all the more happy that you're staying for the whole time. Don't worry about the childcare. It will be fine, we will work it out.

Becky - she's beautiful and her smile makes me smile :) She's so naturally comfortable with you both, it's wonderful to see.
Hope that all your paperwork comes through soon and you can be home with your sweet diva for her big brothers to love on :)

Safe travels
Wendy

She is gorgeous! Your pictures are so precious!
I know it's hard when she cries, but it's a GOOD thing! She's bonded to you, and that's WONDERFUL. You'll be home in no time!

She is so precious! Those orphanage visits are so hard. We really struggled to entertain Oksana, and the separation at the end of each one got so bad that we had to significantly reduce our visits because it was causing so much stresss for us, her, and her caregivers. Soon she won't have to worry about that any more!
